Introducing Alexandra and Ricky. After their 8th anniversary, this cute couple will tie the knot next month.
One of my favorite things about photographing comes way before the actual day. The first time I meet a couple, I get to find out their stories. How they met. Where they went on their first date. The stuff that brought them up to this point. You only get a small slice of that story, but it’s amazing how special they always are.
Alexandra and Ricky’s Love Story, in Alexandra’s own words:
“Our journey started with a dance and three questions. We met on a salsa dancing get-together in a mutual friends apartment on May 15, 2004. Ricky asked me out to dance. I was terrified. I had seen him dance the last couple of songs and he was really good. I don’t like turning down dance invitations and accepted. He asked me where I was from and I answered Puerto Rico. He then asked where I had grown up and I replied Puerto Rico. He asked me where I had lived before moving to Michigan and I answered again Puerto Rico. A little stunned he said “Oh… so you are from Puerto Rico”. I smiled, said “Yes” and our love story began.
We were inseparable for the first four years of our relationship and have been in a long distance relationship due to work for the last four. Ricky and I have grown up together, weathered storms together and reached milestones together. Above all we have filled each others life with love, laughter and a wonderful sense of belonging. What started out as dance has become a life. Last year Ricky planned a surprise scavenger hunt through Central Park that ended with a proposal in Stover Bench. I will be re-joining Ricky for good in October of this year, right before our wedding in December. He now lives in Puerto Rico.”
Thank you Alexandra and Ricky for letting me be a part of this amazing chapter in your lives. Congratulations for your upcoming wedding and I wish you have a great life together.
